Sexually transmitted infections (STI) spread through unprotected oral sex, and often asymptomatically. STIs are skyrocketing, and on top of this Gonorrhea is becoming resistant to antibiotics.
Simply use protection when intimate with a partner you are not in a closed relationship with. Caring about your partner’s health (whether it’s a short or long-term encounter) is one of the most attractive things you can do.

World Health Organization (WHO) warns about antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea rising fast. Antibiotic resistance is a major public health issue. When antibiotics stop working, infections can’t be treated effectively. Incurable infections can cause lifelong pain and infertility, in both men and women.

STIs Can Often Be Asymptomatic
In addition to using protection, a good practice is to get tested regularly when sexually active. STIs can often be asymptomatic. Remember to ask for oral and anal swabs too, based on your recent activity.

Antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea confirmed in Germany, 2025 (Eurosurveillance). Four cases, all straight-identified men, ages late teens to 60s. None had traveled: this strain is already circulating locally. Three were treated and recovered. (The fourth left before his dose and was never seen again.) Ceftriaxone, the last reliable antibiotic for gonorrhea, still worked here. But doctors are increasingly worried about what happens when it doesn’t.
